A Guide To Code Words In Presidential Speeches
From John Merline at IBD.
Sample:
1. When he says: We need to put politics aside and pass the three pending trade bills.
What he means is: I've been holding these bills up for more than two years, but I want to make it look like it's the Republicans' fault, and I know I can count on my lap dog media friends not to call me on this blatant falsehood.
2. When he says: We need to invest in clean energy jobs of the future.
What he means is: I've been holding these bills up for more than two years, but I want to make it look like it's the Republicans' fault, and I know I can count on my lap dog media friends not to call me on this blatant falsehood.
2. When he says: We need to invest in clean energy jobs of the future.
What he means is: Pay no attention to all those failed taxpayer-supported "green" companies over there.
3. When he says: Thank you. God bless you and may God bless the United States of America!
What he means is: Are you ready for some football?!?!

Obama says Congress should stop 'political circus'
September 8, 2011
"Obama was expected to ask lawmakers to approve new money to build schools and demolish vacant housing."
Does that mean the government will pay people with their taxes to destroy their houses, similar to cash-for-clunkers?
Obama and Senate Democrats will become more desperate closer to the election.
It may be time for the House to come up with a bold stimulus plan, and tell Obama and the Senate to take it or leave it.
Hmmm, I wonder if the 'community organizer' would take away a lesson from Arnold Kling: My Jobs Speech?
YouTube clip...
Our republic is awesome. We get a chance every four years to vote bums like this out of the White House.
Well, I am no longer intereseted in reading your blog due to your partisan blathering. Your inability to provide economic insight without open-mindedness leads me to beleive you have very little to offer me in terms of real analysis.
lol - made me smile. So true about the media not going to vet out his statements, very much unlike how they went after the comments of the GOP nominees. And if anyone leaves a 97% economics blog due to 3% comical content - they do not have a sense of humor.
Now even the AP is having its doubts about the 'community organizer': FACT CHECK: Obama's jobs plan paid for? Seems not
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's promise Thursday that everything in his jobs plan will be paid for rests on highly iffy propositions.
It will only be paid for if a committee he can't control does his bidding, if Congress puts that into law and if leaders in the future - the ones who will feel the fiscal pinch of his proposals - don't roll it back...
"We need to put politics aside and pass the three pending trade bills."
I thought this meant, 'If you disagree with me, you're letting politics get in the way.'
"We need to invest in clean energy jobs of the future."
I was sure this meant, 'I have buddies running 'green' (you guys like that word still, don't you?) companies that I want to give your money to.'
"Well, I am no longer intereseted in reading your blog due to your partisan blathering."
I'm sure we're all sorry to see you go. Thanks for contributing to the debate in such a thought-provoking way. This is how we all learn. :P
"I'm sure we're all sorry to see you go"...
I'm with you free2choose, totally broken hearted...
I had to wonder if this guy thought economics worked in an political vacuum...
