Politicians Care, But Not About Facts or Reality

From "About Those "Skyrocketing" Gas Prices," by Larry Elder

"So let's sum up. Politicians and the mainscream media ignore supply and demand; overlook the impact of federal, state and local taxes on the price of a gallon of gas; disregard the effect of consumers' driving habits; refuse to point out the ineffectiveness of "windfall profits taxes"; and blame Big Oil for refusing to build refineries while ignoring environmental restrictions that make it unprofitable to do so.

But at least they care."

Amen.

It's difficult to get elected or reelected on facts; especially facts people do not want to face. Politicians survive by winning popularity contests. If you were a campaign manager, would you advise your candidate to educate the voters on simple economics such as supply and demand?

Elder (another U of M law school grad) makes an intellectually dishonest statement ( which he makes up) and then writes to criticize it to support his views, To compound, you then publish and support to further mislead your students and those from Bangladesh who apparently read your "blog". SAD! P.S.Hopefully Elder and Coulter are the only two embarrassments of the school.

Some anonymous whiner says: "Hopefully Elder and Coulter are the only two embarrassments of the school"

Well unlike you at least these two do have a clue about what's going on in the real world...

Do you find it daunting to take that same challenge, the challenge to face reality?

Note the actions of the New York parasite, Schumer: the conspiracy theorists press on. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., asked the Government Accountability Office to conduct an investigation. A year ago, he asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate. By then, the FTC had already conducted two investigations, uncovering no evidence of unfair business practices. But, who knows? Maybe the oil company CEOs pulled a Sandy Berger, and stuffed damning evidence in their pants...LOL!

Maybe instead of whining about the price of gasoline you and Schumer can team up and start your own oil company and sell your refined products for any price you SOCIALISTS think would please the people...

Just a thought...
