Election Watch 2010

1. Ireland's largest bookie Paddy Power said today it has already paid off all bettors who wagered the GOP would capture the chamber, saying there's no way Democrats can keep control of the House. (Source)

2. From P.J. O'Rourke "This is not an election on November 2. This is a restraining order."

3. Current Intrade odds: 2:1 that Harry Reid will lose in Nevada, 5:1 that Barbara Boxer will win in California, and 13:1 that Jerry Brown will win in California.

Interestingly Nate Silver's 538 shows 73% chance of a Republican win for Nevada's Senate seat...

Silver also notes the same sorts of odds that intrade is showing for Boxer and Brown...

I'm guessing California's financial problems will continue...

I bet Benji is salivating at the chance to vote for Brown and Boxer.

Mark:
Linking to a column that compares Democrats to Michael Vick (and specifically to Michael Vick the dog killer) is in poor taste. I enjoy your blog, I read almost everything you post, and I learn a LOT from it. Linking to this column is in poor taste.

Just my 2 cents,
Andy

This points to a troublesome trend. Not republicans winning, but a trend of the safe ultra-liberal career politicians keeping their seats. When the pendulum swings (as it will again) this means we may get yet another turn of Pelosi-ment.

The gerrymandering legislation in California is really an important thing. If how districts are redone, there is a possibility of these really incompetent, self-important narcissistic uber libs becoming, at least, more accountable.

But Barney Frank losing would bring a smile to my face. What are the Intrade odds on that?

What is interesting is how the Drudge Report for the last couple of days has several many news links regarding Democrats and voter fraud from different parts of the country...

Note the following from Rasmussen Reports: 65% Favor Getting Rid of Entire Congress and Starting Over

'Not surprisingly, 82% of Republicans and 78% of unaffiliateds say dump them all. Despite their party’s control of both the House and Senate, Democratic voters are fairly evenly divided: 44% say it’s better to keep the entire Congress, but 38% would prefer to give all the national legislators the heave-ho'...

Why is that?

You are correct. Michael Vick stood up and admitted that he had made an error. He took his punishment like a man and has returned to be a productive member of society. He does not deserve the embarrassment to be compared to the Democrats, who are still hopeless and dangerous to society.
