Yeah, right. And everyone in Pennsylvania is going to have Amish culture and ethics forced upon them. And everyone in Manhattan is going to have to eat kosher food. Give me a break, Fox News. Mark, why post this nonsense?
Mark, your economics and finance posts are consistently interesting, and clearly aimed at a portion of the population that chooses to think critically.
Since the target audience for this video is...not that group, why are you posting a link to it here?

The video is filtered out here at work, so maybe I'm missing something, but I can think of some reasons why your examples are oranges to the Islamic apple.
I suggest you watch the video first. Some checkout people at a Target store didn't want to have to handle packages of bacon, so they were given other positions in the company. This, apparently, is evidence that the state of Minnesota faces the imposition of sharia law.
A cynical person would have to wonder how someone with even modest intelligence could apply for and accept a job at a retail company as well known as Target, without realizing that the company might sell items that were offensive to their religious or cultural sensibilities, and that their job might expose them to uncomfortable proximity to those items.
Lucky thing Target is so accommodating and even had other jobs available for these folks.
I suspect that Amish and Jewish people are too smart to get into such predicaments. In fact history shows this to be true.
As to the cab drivers, in my opinion they should be able to do business or not do business with whoever they like. They can judge for themselves whether the loss of business to others who don't discriminate is worth it.
Their refusal to carry people with helper dogs, however, will bring them instant attention from the Eye of Sauron in the form of the ADA.

Yes, yes, the airport cab drivers refused to carry alcohol. And then some cashiers complained about handling bacon at the Target on University Ave.

Funny, no one seems to remember dog problems. Perhaps a "journalistic" flourish.
2010: the cab drivers carry passengers who have alcohol, the cashiers scan all the food.
And yes, they are assimilating quite well here in Minnesota.

They're assimilating quite well in Minnesota? Speak to peace officers, police, who have to deal with Somalis day in, day out. They still regularly undermine female officers. Assimilating would mean they would recognize women not only as equals but as an important part of their community and more than capable of holding important positions in their community. If they were assimilating, they wouldn't behave like this more often than not. Sure, there are some great Somalis. But as a whole they have yet to behave as though it's the 21st century and women are not subservient to men.

I agree with the comments about let's get back to economics.
otoh, I live in Minneapolis, so I feel compelled to weigh in. When I moved here 2 years ago, it felt a little bit weird to see women in hijabs all over the place, but we're in America, and if somebody wants to wear a silly hood that's their damn right, whether it's a religious zealot or a KKK member.
Same with the Liquor-less cabs & the bacon-less cashiers, superstitious nitwits that they be. I'm sure I can find somebody to sell me my bacon flavored whiskey and drive me back home. Free markets right?
A significant problem here is that some bureaucrass somewhere thinks Target is required to reassign the baconators instead of them being at-will employees.
As for assimilation, c'mon! They've been here - what? 5-15 years max? That's barely enough time for an Englishman to assimilate, much less a Somali. Give them a generation or two and we'll soften 'em right up.
I will say this though - those africans will occupy a Starbucks like nobody's business!
I'm one of the most liberal lefty as they come in Minnesota, but of all of the immigrant groups to resettle here in recent history, I've had the biggest reservations of Somalians. Unlike the Vietnamese in the late 70's, Somalians are doing little to nothing to contribute and assimilate to our city. They protest at every event, use our social services, rude to everyone, and the list goes on and on. They control most of the cabs in Minneapolis and I refuse to get in one because I've been cheated so many times or felt intimidated. Minnesotans are open minded and welcoming people with great social programs; that's why many refugees come here. However, if you expect help from our people, our expectations is that you contribute. Open businesses that are for everyone - not just Somali coffee shops where women aren't allowed.
We are Americans, we have laws, rules, traditions. We are not allowed to go to another country and protest for anything. We would be thrown in jail, sent home or worse.
Has not Germany, France, Canada, Australia told America that this is not working. They are warning us and telling us that Socialism does not work nor does Shari'a law work in their countries. They won't assimilate and they try to force counties that they come to to except their laws and culture.
We could be like the Germans when Hitler took over and just let it happen . Sorry but I'm not going to just set and wait until it's too late..
All the elites can ponder and postulate all they want, it still won't stop them from trying to take over America.
