Jobs Machine: Wal-Mart Plans to Add 500,000 Jobs

Reuters -- "Internationally, where business units account for about one-quarter of Wal Mart's total sales, "we need to continue to set an impressive pace of growth and have a constant emphasis on returns," Chief Executive Mike Duke said.

As part of that growth, Wal-Mart will add 500,000 jobs to a base of 2.2 million. Wal-Mart's international business is growing at a much faster clip than in the United States. The company already has 4,110 stores in 14 countries besides the United States and is eyeing an entry into Russia."

Left hates WalMart.
Public loves WalMart.
Democrat Party voters love WalMart.
Unions hate WalMart.
Pattern?

And let's not forget Wal-Mart's plan to help employees with college. Of course it's online college, which will make the left angry.

Mark:

Are you in complete denial about how bad this recession has been?

You do realize that this is yet another jobless recovery, right?

And yet you keep posting on your blog about how everything is just so cheery.

Sooner or later, you'll be right about how everything is going well, but it will be later, rather than sooner.

But in the meantime, these little diversions are nothing more than bread and circuses because as Keynes so accurately said, "in the longrun we're all dead"

Just curious Pingry but do you actually follow the links that Professor Mark puts into his postings?

Just asking...
