Yes, we really had the deficit under control 2000-2006.
So 1% to 4% of GDP was not under control and over 10% now would be ______ .
Bush didn't get to 20% or 30% approval by losing Democrats. That only gets to 60%. He got there by losing support of Republicans and Independents.
Republicans got out of control and they paid the price two elections in a row. But were people voting for wildly higher spending and deficits? That sure wasn't the sales pitch.
