Dr. Mark J. Perry is a professor of economics and finance in the School of Management at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. In addition, he holds an MBA degree in finance from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan-Flint, Perry is also a visiting scholar at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.

Tracking who insurance is posted for and amounts may be a good indicator of how others perceive of the value of a player on a team.
Good data on its own, since it is insurance purchased, not buy the player as a substitute for his own income, but by an outsider as a proxy to the player's value.
If I were an agent, I would use the insurance value and purchase amount as an indicator for how much I would ask for a players salary and value to a team.
