Boeing Workers Vote 3 to 1 to Go "Union-Free"
Boeing Co. workers in North Charleston (SC) voted overwhelmingly to disband their union in a move that could give the region an edge in landing an aircraft plant the company is looking to build. Of the 267 ballots cast, 199 were in favor of decertifying the election that made them members of the International Association of Machinists. The company was pleased; the union was disappointed.

Nice to see these workers have enough sense to allow their employer to be more flexible and competitive than possible with union rules.
I wonder if once the plant is built the unions will more back in and re-establish itself.
This is probably a very good thing because the next step is the avoidance of Chinese barriers by building in China -- Airbus is doing this with the A320 right now. Boeing workers in Renton and Everett, Washington need a reality check and stop listening to their unions. Trident Tech in the Charleston area is teaching skills in airplance mechanics and composites rigth now for workers on the 787.
Unions are losing power. Anyone can see what they've done to GM, although GM's management has certainly not been helpful.
Some time ago, some unions made an attempt to unionize IT workers. The response was resounding laughter.
I really don't think the union wages are as much a problem as the work rules and golden retirements. All my parents had to say about unions, was the leaders like really nice offices. I personally can't see having two bosses and my money used to prevent the firing toxic employees.
very nice, in this way union of workers can get back their power again and can lead to the economy.
There IS "Hope" for America. This is quite a "Change" from what was expected!
Hear, Hear!!
Don't be surprised if the 0bama Defense Department cancels all contracts with Boeing.
