WGNTV.COM -- The cloudy, chilly and rainy open to June here has been the talk of the town. So far this June is running more than 12 degrees cooler than last year, and the clouds, rain and chilly lake winds have been persistent. The average temperature at O'Hare International Airport through Friday has been only 59.5 degrees: nearly 7 degrees below normal and the coldest since records there began 50 years ago.
Dr. Mark J. Perry is a professor of economics and finance in the School of Management at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. In addition, he holds an MBA degree in finance from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan-Flint, Perry is also a visiting scholar at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.

UPDATE: They are now calling it Global Climate Change.
Al Gore is reportedly scrapping his private jet, converting his mansion into a green powered condo that will accommodate 8 families and scrapping his SUV in favor of a Prius.
Oh yeah nearly forgot the newest thing to control Global Climate Change is population control...
Does it really matter - global warming or cooling? The end game is the transfer of wealth from us to them. Put on an extra sweater, it is going to get a lot colder.

U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern said that there was “no question” that China would receive both financial and technological assistance from the United States as part of upcoming climate change talks to be conducted in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Kneecapping the U.S. economy seems to be the goal for Obama and his supporters. While the U.S. will be required to reduce CO2 emissions to 90's levels, China will only be expected to reduce CO2 emissions below "where they otherwise would be if no actions were taken".
China is the largest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world and it, along with the third-largest emitter India have been the source of U.S. objection in international climate negotiations, with the State Department arguing that any agreement that did not reflect the two countries’ contributions to greenhouse gas emissions would be unfair.

“We are expecting China to reduce emissions very considerably compared to where they would otherwise be,” said Stern. “That’s not an absolute reduction below where they are right now, because they [China] are not quite at that point yet. In that respect, the developed and developing countries are different.”

I am looking forward to the future political consequences of the greenies and leftists having less babies. Over time, their political influence should wane as they are increasingly outnumbered by the offspring of normal, conservative folk.
Gosh Bill, I don't know what's worse, the irrationality of the current democratic administration, or the fecundity of religious zealots.
My bet is this is related to the lack of sun activity. Scientist are seeing an amazing quiet period in solar radiation. I highly doubt this is relevant to the global warming/climate change/name of the week, debate. Just as I highly doubt a year of strong hurricanes indicates that the sky is falling and that we're all doomed!

Gosh, misterjosh, I don't know what's worse: snarky, off-topic comments or somebody who has a monumental dearth of reading comprehension. You somehow managed to infer some religious undertone from Bill's innocuous comment that didn't even obliquely reference religion. Good job!

I've done a regression of Chicago annual average temperatures going back 100 years. Extrapolating that out for the next 100 years prduces a rise in temps of 0.02 degrees F. If there is Global Warming it aint happening in Chicago.
The Alarmists believe that big cities are heat sinks and as such should be heating up faster than the countryside. A US Geological Survey scientist told me this data was 'an anomoly', not to be taken seriously.
