These wi-fi drones won't be really cool until they can fire mini-Hellfire missiles...

Aww Juandos, I was going to say "what, no Hellfire missles?"

Damn buddy that $285 cost per unit had me clutching my chest in pain!...:-)

Hey marko I was thinking of the Air Hog Sharp Shooter being sold at Target for $33...

The police won't like the public being able to record some of their activities. It is harder to lie when there is video evidence to contradict the official story.

Now if the interface was more open than just those phones, I'd have no issue.

Juandos:
There is another option. However, it is more of a DIY solution to the same problem.

Vange hit this one on the nose.

However the regulations for flying these things may preclude such use.

Any kind of "real" drones are illegal to fly in us airspace without special FAA permission. Sport RC aircraft fly under different rules and prohibitions.

If flying RC aircraft at ANY altitude is illegal.. then how can these things be legally sold?

Funny how some of you guys don't trust the cops, but you trust the federal government to run the economy.

There will soon be a day where most of us are wearing personal video devices to record everyday interaction with others.

It certainly is. But it is also funny how some don't trust the government but trust the cops, even though all the evidence points out that both are incompetent and a threat to individual liberty.

Well, I think I trust the cops more than the Obama administration and the thought police over at homeland security department.

All the evidence?

Sport RC aircraft are allowed to be flown with height and proximity restrictions.

Funny how we got from a cool toy to the Obama thought police.

Conspiracy obsession anyone.

It's not a conspiracy when DHS publicly announces it is keeping track of "who says what."

In the industry, we do not refer to such vehicles as drones, utility as remotely piloted vehicles (RPVs). This is distinguished from unmanned aerial vehicles, (UAVs), which are capable of autonomous flight, including take off, landing, and traffic avoidance.

Lots of agencies are tracking who says what. Some of them are private businesses.

Millions of cameras track where they are. Some of them mounted on " "drones".

What is your point? That privacy is toast?

What are you afraid of? If we know what everyone says and thinks that we will learn that economic Darwinism is nearing extinction?

Nice link, bob. How did the author make the jump from collecting data to victimization?

How is reading and collecting public statements become " spying"?

How is what they do different from what Google does?

You are right. It is not a conspiracy if it is publicly announced.

You have a valid point regarding the economy marko, but trusting the cops?

A very iffy proposition at best in my opinion...

'when seconds count the police are only minutes away'...
