Markets In Everything: High-End $12 Cup of Coffee

"It is a higher-end coffee, and you have to take a lot of time developing and processing it," said Steve Holt, vice president of Ninety Plus Coffee, the company distributing the beans for the $12 cup of coffee. "Once the coffee is harvested, it is dried on a raised African drying bed -- the actual coffee cherries never sit on the ground."

Colleen Duhamel, a coffee buyer and barista at
Cafe Grumpy said the Nekisse beans, which are roasted on site, yield a far more complex coffee that should only be taken black.

A $12 cup of coffee?
You know, Milton Friedman's idea for a progessive consumption tax to finance military outlays looks better all the time.

A fool and his money are soon parted seems to me to apply in this case, but then it also applies to wine, $250 or more a bottle seems foolish to me.

"And before grinding, they are gently rubbed by the fingers of only the purest virgins, freshly anointed by Catholic priests with the Holy Sacrament..."

There are definitely people too stupid to own money.

You remind me of an old joke:

Back in the good ole days in Texas, when stagecoaches and the like was popular, there were three people in a stagecoach one day: a true red- blooded born-and-raised Texas gentleman, a tenderfoot city-slicker from back East, and a beautiful and well-endowed Texas lady. The city-slicker kept eyeing the lady, and finally he leaned forward and said, "Lady, I'll give you $10 for a blow job." The Texas gentleman looked appalled, pulled out his pistol, and killed the city-slicker on the spot. The lady gasped and said, "Thank you, suh, for defendin' mah honor!" Whereupon the Texan holstered his gun and said, "Your honor, hell!! No tenderfoot is gonna raise the price of women in Texas!!"

How DARE you!!

How DARE you raise land prices in Ethiopia!!?!"

:oP

LOL! Very good OBH

BTW what would you pay for Spain today?

Solar bubble bursts in Spain amid subsidy cuts, fraud allegations

Note the last paragraph: 'Many Spanish solar plants operate under contracts with guaranteed fixed prices for 20 or 25 years. Although most of the subsidy cost is supposed to be passed on to consumers, portions of the households' electric bill payments are delayed by several years as part of the aid scheme, boosting the state's liabilities in the meantime. The cost of these unpaid bills rose last year by 33 percent to €16 billion'...

Yet another interesting tid-bit about Spain courtesy of Bloomberg Businessweek: Spain’s Deficit to Exceed Greek Gap; EU Says Warns on Growth

Spain’s budget deficit will be larger than Greece’s shortfall this year, the European Commission forecast, signaling the Madrid government’s growth forecasts may be too optimistic.
