Dr. Mark J. Perry is a professor of economics and finance in the School of Management at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. In addition, he holds an MBA degree in finance from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan-Flint, Perry is also a visiting scholar at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.

I wonder how many of the disapprovers are progressive base who felt the administration didn't go far enough?
Looks like his popularity was highest when there was a public option on the table.
what does this actually indicate?
it's unclear whether they disapprove of his healthcare plan, or the fact that he can't get it passed? maybe they're disappinted that there is no public option. LOL, maybe they're worried about 'death panels'.
we can't tell.

Conversely, it looks like his popularity was highest before the Senate bribes, the closed-door backroom deals, Dems shutting Republicans out of negotiations, Dems ignoring the majority of Americans who don't want Obamacare in its current form in the first place, Dems not reading the legislation before voting for it, etc.
Only a truly delusional lefty would conclude that the disapproval rating is largely the result of people thinking Obama has not gone far enough in attempting to nationalize the American healthcare system.
Everybody loves free stuff, until they find out it isn't really free.

Americans understand what Obama is trying to do to the American healthcare system, and most of us don't like it.
i'd argue this show that this means americans don;t like the BO health plan, not that they think it doesn't go far enough.
polls repeatedly show that americans are more concerned with reducing cost than extending coverage.
further, every time he lays out his plan in more detail or goes to bat for the plan in congress, his popularity suffers an immediate drop.
BO is really turning out to have a tin ear for the public mood. he seems convinced that we'll suddenly love this plan if he just explains it to us again, that somehow, we don;t understand, when he fact is, that we do understand, we just don;t like it. he has mistaken the brake for the gas and is pressing harder and harder on it as he slows down.
notions that the US is now ungovernable, and that there is some deep congressional flaw that's stopping him from pushing through his agenda are ludicrous. the difficulty of getting law through the senate is a deliberate feature, not a flaw. what's more IT'S WORKING just as it was supposed to - to block unpopular legislation and to preserve state's rights.
The right and independents are lost, so the only ones left are the left.
They'll cram something through since the only way to get the base out for the next election is to hand them something.
Bill Clinton is right that approval would go up afterwards. But it won't be as much among the opponents and it will be those who believe it doesn't go far enough.

BO is turning out to be using the Helen Keller model for governance.

No, he doesn't understand that the car's been turned off by the computer when it detected excess and dangerous acceleration, and he's pounding the accelerator in frustration (all the while cursing, "Stupid CAR! Do what *I* want!") that it won't go as fast as he wants, and the shut-down power steering isn't taking him in the direction he wants to go either.
