No.
Extended hit pieces like that are not Pulitzer material.
The sources you cite are quite telling. They hate Edwards' good work and cite his bad work.
Somebody just wanted a lawyer taken down that was scaring them. They should not be rewarded for their efforts.
There need to be more of this guy in the legal profession to scare the living daylights out of the kind of entities he's faced.
You post this because he was a Democrat. Let's balance the picture with the Republican offenders and keep in mind they are all POLITICIANS.
The Pulitzer Prize reference is absurd unless you take economic advice from the National Inquirer.
"Somebody just wanted a lawyer taken down that was scaring them. They should not be rewarded for their efforts."
Ah, how about they just wanted to expose a egotistical pathological liar?
This is defiantly good stuff they've dug up and they deserve recognition. Several years ago, I remember seeing on their covers material about Bush doing coke, getting drunk off his ass (my words), and having a fling with Condoleeza. Maybe the National Enquirer is better than traditional print media...
We all know the NE's reputation. They are a rag which will sell any salacious details it finds.
But how is any other media source different?
CBS tried to use phony memos to attack George W. Bush.
The New York Times is a left-wing partisan propaganda machine, always using "unnamed" sources.
PBS Frontline is all leftist, all the time. Their piece on the credit card industry (rebroadcast in 2009) was a hatchet job against banks and for miserable debtors.
Yes, the NE deserves a Pulitzer for the best investigative journalism in the past 10 years of a mendacious, hypocritical, narcissistic ambulance chaser who was close to becoming either President or another high-ranking government official.
I think all the "if he was a Republican" comments are more leftist denial that the media is in their court. Look at how they attacked Senator Larry Craig for doing nothing other than tapping his foot while Gerry Studds actually raped an intern, Barney Frank had a teenage gay prostitution ring running out of his basement, Chris Dodd got sweetheart deals from Countrywide, and Charlie Rangel is a tax cheat. The MSM dropped all those stories for powerful sitting politicians long ago.
There need to be more of this guy in the legal profession to scare the living daylights out of the kind of entities he's faced.
More leftist garbage from our resident socialist, sethstorm.
The "entities he's faced" were hard working doctors and nurses whose careers he tried to destroy over a condition that has now been proven to be caused by, among other things, a virus.
Lawyers, like Edwards, are vermin who feed on personal tragedy in order to enrich themselves. They have bought control the Democrat Party and with it the unswerving loyalty of a media dominated by leftists.
Here's an article explaining how the Pulitzer committee has been taken over by leftists: The Pulitzer Prize: No Conservatives Need Apply
No expose of leftist malignancy will ever receive an award; the game has been fixed.
Oric,
Add another to your list.
How about New York Times reporter Jayson Blair who falsified and plagarized stories. Surely, fabrication is even more embarassing than ideological bias.
Sethstorm,
Will grant you that such tittle-tattle hardly warrants a Pulitzer. The hanky panky of one smarmy politician (whether Republican or Democrat) is political fodder but not particularly news worthy.
There are many people who create far greater value in society than tort lawyers...medical researchers, genetists, engineers, plant pathologists....men and women who make less noise than a John Edwards but transform the world around them through technological innovations. You can see some of these folks on Science Now...creating prostetic arms, working in advanced robotics, developing breakthrough treatments for cancer, developing disease resistance crops, etc.
I find it difficult to believe that you can make a case for a shortage of tort lawyers in a country as litigiousness as the U.S.
What's the value of a Pulitzer anyway? Among other Pulitzer horrors, recall the 1932 Pulitzer awarded to Walter Duranty of the NY Times for his lies in support of Stalin's Soviet Union.
I put the Pulitzer and Nobel prizes in the same bin. Worthless save for any cash award.
"The sources you cite are quite telling. They hate Edwards' good work and cite his bad work"...
ROFLMAO!
What good works did that parasitic ambulance chaser accomplish?
Let's ask Ann Coulter...
Were some of those alledged good works regarding Edwards' babble about poverty in America?
Maybe it was Edwards embracing junk science to convince stupid jurors to give out asinine awards?
Had the National Enquirer not bird-dogged and broken the story, the mainstream media would have covered it up.
In fact look how little coverage Edward's admission got - until it got out on the web.
The predominant media as Oric points out has gone way beyond bias - they're now into knowingly and repeatedly publishing and broadcasting lies, and ignoring truth that doesn't conform to their positions.
Nice fisking, Oric.
The NYT deserves die an extremely painful financial death. There are consequences for their behavior - they become untrustworthy, unreliable and ultimately worthless.
After CBS's transgression with the faked Bush memo, the only things I watch on CBS is golf (very rarely) and the Super Bowl.
Thank goodness we have bloggers and citizen journalists who are willing and able to challenge the press when they are wrong.
