I've always loved Carlin and still do. He's definitely a hoot.
But, he's dead wrong here. Like Limbaugh, he's no scientist and doesn't have the knowledge or credentials to pontificate about proven scientific truths. He's just another guy who's entitled to his personal opinion no matter how misinformed or, in fact, ignorant. But swimming against the tide always get attention, is provocative, entertaining and brings the swimmer more bucks than if he reiterates the truth.
You miss the point. Your not powerful enough to seriously effect the planet. What you are trying to save is a hypothetical image of what you think the planet should be! The planet has survived traumas many billions of times of greater effect than mankind. In a little while (on a geological time scale) we won't be here anymore; nor will any of our supposed "influences" upon the ecosystem. Your view is so anthropomorphic and arrogant it's silly.
-- Roy in So. CA
P.s. Scientist no longer look for truth; they search for justifications of pre- established, politically correct points of view.
"he's no scientist and doesn't have the knowledge or credentials to pontificate about proven scientific truths."
Which were...?
"But swimming against the tide always get attention, is provocative, entertaining and brings the swimmer more bucks than if he reiterates the truth"...
So you mika obviously went to some learned and well respected individuals to get your take on the 'global weather change' scam, right?
Meanwhile back in the real world we know of the following: Global Warming Doomsday Called Off...
[Carlin's] no scientist and doesn't have the knowledge or credentials to pontificate about proven scientific truths.
Hahahahaha..."proven"...hahahahaha
..."truths." I'm sorry...are you referring to the same "science" that "proved" to us just a few decades ago the "truth" that we were heading into a new ice age? Thanks...I needed the laugh...both at Carlin and Mika.
Dr. Perry - Thanks for the nod.
Mika,
1) Click here if you care to examine the science and other objective, quantitative facts which prove Anthropogenic Climate Change to be the single biggest hoax EVER perpetrated on the human race. I bet you won’t!
2) Another irony exposed by Carlin is the pathological fear so-called Liberals have about any sort of “change”.
The climate is changing. It always has and always will. Species are going extinct. They always have and always will. These are the ways of the world.
But, self-absorbed “Liberals” believe that now is the one perfect moment in the entire billions of years of earth’s history and we must move heaven and earth in an absolutely futile effort to ensure that every aspect of this planet remains in absolute stasis for ever and ever, amen.
Keep drinkin' the Limbaugh denial Kool Aide gentlemen and I'll pray for your grandchildren.
mika in what sounds like a desperate plea says: "Keep drinkin' the Limbaugh denial Kool Aide gentlemen and I'll pray for your grandchildren"...
Hmmm, 'denial kool aide', can you explain what that means or are they just words you are parroting from someone else?
So mika are you going to pray that the grandchildren you apparently are worried about will be able to pay off the massive debt that Obama and his Democratic Congress have foisted off onto the citizens?
Mika,
No need to pray for our salvation from CO2:
According to peer reviewed science, 460 million years ago CO2 was 10 to 15 times higher than today. And yet, that period coincided with one of the three coldest Ice Ages in the last 600 million years. This Ordovician Ice Age was very, very similar to the current Ice Age -- which started about 30 million years ago.
Now, about your offer to pray for us…
If you are not too far gone, perhaps we could arrange an intervention and rescue you from the fanatical religious cult which has you under their spell.
Once that is accomplished, perhaps you would be better equipped to examine the science and understand the extent of the (self-confessed) media propaganda.
You see, Mika, if I were a religious man, I might pray for you. But, as it turns out, I am a scientist, not a theologian.
Carlin makes a few scientific generalizations here, but his main point is a philosophical one dealing with human arrogance. He puts it succinctly .. "the planet isn't going anywhere, *we* are." Thus the self-importance of these 'save the planet' people. He's making a bigger argument for the planet here than any pro or anti climate change zealot every could. He was never about siding with the right or left .. just about exposing the bullshit wherever it resided.
