"Energy Tax Cut" Boosts Feb. Sales at Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart Stores reported net sales for the four-week period ending Feb. 27, 2009. Walmart U.S. had strong sales performance during the four-week February period. Comparable store sales increased 5.0%, driven largely by an acceleration of traffic (see chart above, click to enlarge). Average ticket also increased.

We believe falling gas prices significantly boosted household disposable income in February and therefore allowed for both more trips and more spending towards discretionary categories, ” said Eduardo Castro-Wright, vice chairman, Wal-Mart Stores.

Rememeber this when Obama tells you that energy should be more expensive. He's been captured by anti-capitalist and anti-humanm forces that want all of you (not them!) driven into low energy poverty.

Won't raise taxes on those earning less than $250,000 by one thin dime.***

***Unless you're single, or have dividends, or have capital gains, or buy energy, or earn above the SS wage cap.

But apparently "taxes" means income taxes. Not other taxes, because of course those really aren't taxes.

At least when Bill lied it was legally accurate in most cases. Now it's not even that cute.

Massachusetts is fixing this by adding a 40 cent tax to every gallon of gasoline.

I guess the current taxes on gasoline plus the insane excise taxes on all vehicles wasn't enough to feed the beast.

Cap & Trade is the energy tax. It will raise taxes on everyone and increase unemployment.
