Tax Deadline Approaches: Bring Us Back to 1913

See the original 1913 IRS 1040 form here (only 4 pages including all forms and instructions).

To see how much you would be taxed at the 1913 tax rates, check out the Political Calculations blog (Note: maxiumum tax rate in 1913 was 6%).

Of course, back in 1913, they didn't have the computer applications that would take all the work out of doing your taxes. We've since corrected that problem - the tool to do your 1913 income taxes is here!

The reason they introduced a progressive tax system in 1913 is that the robber-barons had taken over the economy. That is the same situation we have today where the robber-barons like Enron, the oil companies, the insurance and pharmacutical industries are robbing us. The flat tax system is supported only by the robber-baron replublicans. It is a way for the rich to get richer with lower tax rates.
