JANUARY 15--Disgraced and disbarred, Mike Nifong is now bankrupt. The former North Carolina prosecutor, whose career imploded with his botched handling of the Duke University rape case, today filed for bankruptcy, listing liabilities in excess of $180 million.
Dr. Mark J. Perry is a professor of economics and finance in the School of Management at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. In addition, he holds an MBA degree in finance from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan-Flint, Perry is also a visiting scholar at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.

He is not the only bad DA out there.
Nifong's mistake was to take on people who had the resources to defend themselves. Most of us, faced with a Nifong style DA, would be cut to pieces.
All I can say is that it's nice to see justice done...even (or especially) if it is the poetic kind.

The pseudo-justice system is rife with police and prosecutorial misconduct.
Unfortunately, railroading him will do no more good - they're just a bunch of Duke kids who think that they can bury him and anyone who supports him with the money/power of one of their parents.
At this point, they have no chance of getting anywhere close to that 180m, much less 1m. That'll be justice for going too far and thinking that they need to throw heavenly amounts of power at this person. Those 6 kids will be denied their attempt at gratuitous revenge.
There's a point where you have to stop. There's justice, and there's what those Duke kids are trying to pile on. That's worse than what Nifong was alleged of doing.
Nifong was trying to ruin those 6 guys' lives. It looks like they are returning the favor.
