Quote of the Day

In California, which outlawed racial preferences in 1996, more black and Hispanic students are enrolled in college today than ever before -- and more importantly, a higher percentage of them are graduating. In 1995, only 26% of black and Hispanic students actually graduated from the UC system; now 51% graduate, roughly equal to the white and Asian rate.

It's about time we ended racial double standards once and for all. In doing so, we will actually improve the chances that more black and Hispanic students will earn college degrees.

And people will know that a UC degree was _really_ earned & not just given on the basis of race.

And further, what degrees are they graduating with, Womyn's Studies, Afro-American History, Latino Culture, or some other "gimmee" degree that has absolutely no value beyond the self-perpetuating cycle of academia?

Higher education is slumping towards total subservience to intellectual midgets for whom self-esteem is everything. No longer do those with 100 IQs go to vocational school and learn a trade. Now, they demand easy college degrees and subsidized student loans that they'll likely be hard-pressed to repay with the wages they'll earn with their Fisher-Price degree.

[/rant] Sorry. The Social Work degree seekers at my school piss me off.
