What timing for this article to post! My father who retired from GM Metal Fab Trades this past December after 45 years announced he was was taking a vacation and going to Cancun for six weeks. He emails just about daily with updates and in one of his notes he said he went to the dentist there and had a tooth replaced that was pulled. I thought he is much braver than I after GM / Delphi dental insurance all my life every six months... I don't know if I can trust an across the border dentist. But he states everything is great. I am going to stay a week with him in two weeks during our break here at school and I plan to take this article to him. :) Keep Smiling
D.C.stimac,
I know your dad J the diemaker and your brother D the machine repairman. I've been at Metal Fab going on 34 years. I'm glad to see he's enjoying his retirement. I see too many people carried out of here who have died or will never enjoy life again. I guess that is to be expected with our average age in the 50's. I'm one of the younger going on 52, but with the recent Delphi folks coming in it looks as though the average age may drop a bit.
Tell your dad Walt the pipefitter said "Hi."
walt g., hi...my Dad emailed me this morn and I will reply back with your message. I emailed a copy of this article also. I work at Delphi Flint salaried operations and engineering management. I do parts approval to ship and track engineering changes for our customers. I have been here since 1989. I will transfer to Troy when this site shuts down. Yes, I too am one of the younger ones! Take care.
