GM vs. Toyota, Nascar Style

After years of expanding its presence in the United States and beyond, the Toyota Motor Company of Japan recently issued a 2007 forecast that would make it first in global sales, ahead of General Motors.

And now, Toyota is about to begin competing with its American counterparts on yet another level: Nascar’s premier circuit, the Nextel Cup.

The first (new) American car I had - a GM - the driver's side window fell out. It was in service 6 times in 7 months, not quite meeting the Illinois "Lemon Laws". After this ordeal, I said no more, and have bought Japanese cars since (with few if any problems).

as far as I am concerned, people who persist in buying low quality American cars are simply "prolonging the agony" of the US auto industry. Let American car companies learn to compete - or fail. As the line goes, "capitalism without failure is like religion without sin"... the only tragedy is the fallout for the American auto worker (but better sooner rather than later).
