ReplyDeleteIt seems like Czar-hood could go two ways. 1) Be very nimble and avoid Washington bureaucracy 2) Not be accountable and mission-creep their czar-turf.

ReplyDeleteAnother comparison we could make between pre-1917 Russia and the United States is each country's form of government: monarchy. Pre revolutionary Russia operated under a formal authoritarian monarchy with Czar Nicholas. Right now, the United States borders more on being an absolute monarchy, less constrained by rules, of course-- actually, they are more like guidelines.
