Obama's House of Three Dozen Czars

Watch Pajamas TV video "Obama's House of Czars" with InstaCzar Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit blog). Once three more czars are appointed to currently unfilled positions, it will bring the total number of czars and czarinas to about 36.

I'm waiting for the number to hit 52 so then a deck of cards can be put out like the one at the beginning of the Iraq war.

It seems like Czar-hood could go two ways. 1) Be very nimble and avoid Washington bureaucracy 2) Not be accountable and mission-creep their czar-turf.

One hopes there is sunset budgeting and definitive mission statements for these synthetic agencies.

There once was a government czar

Who bellowed "How lucky I are!

"I wasn't elected

"Nor Senate vetted

"And hold powers seized from afar!"

Nothing like having a Commie Jobs Czar around to remind us in what direction this administration wants to point this country...

Another comparison we could make between pre-1917 Russia and the United States is each country's form of government: monarchy. Pre revolutionary Russia operated under a formal authoritarian monarchy with Czar Nicholas. Right now, the United States borders more on being an absolute monarchy, less constrained by rules, of course-- actually, they are more like guidelines.
