Global Warming, Assorted Links

1. Global Cooling in NYC? Temperatures in NYC have averaged 42 degrees Fahrenheit in April, only one degree warmer than the average for April 1874, the coldest on record.

2. Climate change concert star Madonna accused of hypocrisy, her "Confessions" tour produced 440 tons of CO2 in 4 months, just for the flights between the countries, not taking into account the truckloads of equipment needed, the power to stage such a show and the transport of all the thousands of fans getting to the gigs.

3. Camile Paglia, "Climate change is built into Earth's system, and cooling and warming will go on forever. Man is too weak to permanently affect nature, which includes infinitely more than this tiny globe."

4. "The Great Global Warming Swindle" - UK Channel 4 Documentary Film.

5. Al Gore’s extreme proposals on climate change are smart politics—and bad policy.

Paglia, you rock.

It takes real cojones to stand up to the global warming misinformation. Your no apologies style has made me an instant fan.

Is there global warming? yes.
Did Al Gore discover it and find the culprit, yes, well, at least he certainly thinks so.

It's too bad that the guy who thinks he invented the internet can't make a factual documentary without twisting the facts. He's been hanging out with Michael Moore too much.

Nobody likes phonies, even if their message may contain the kernel of truth. Being a phony ruins the message, even if it's a good message or something everyone should know...

Hopefully people learn from this and simply present the facts, they are compelling enough without the alarmist and rhetorical spin.

Science is exciting enough, Al Gore doesn't need to invent his own facts and theories, he should leave that to real scientists. His documentary would have been more exciting if it was a real documentary and not a device he used to further his agenda.

The American Enterprise Institute (read the big business lobby) has a policy of delay and do little when it comes to addressing the global warming issue. Global warming not only is real, it's happening faster than some of the most pessimistic predictions of the science community.

Responding to Anonymous above: Try reading Thernstrom's piece before you comment on it. The piece does NOT argue that warming is not real; it does NOT argue for doing nothing about it. The piece calls for a realistic approach to the problem and an honest conversation about the practical problems with Gore's simplistic solutions. READ before you post, and if you can, try to engage with the arguments that have actually been made.

4. "The Great Global Warming Swindle" - BBC Documentary Film.

It was a Channel 4 documentary not BBC - the BBC are true believers and would not commission anything without a drowning polar bear.
