Fashion Crime Scene: Flip-Flops = Fashion Flop
Flip-flops.... they used to be for the beach only..... Now we've become "Flip-Flop Nation" and They're Everywhere ... Workplace, hotel lobbies, airplanes, shopping malls, restaurants, museums.
I had a student show up for an arc-welding class in flip-flops a few years ago. I should have let him weld that way just for giggles. I let a lady go through a car wash where worked in my younger days with her sunroof open. That was kind of mean of me.
When I was in high school, we called flip-flops thongs and only wore them in the locker room after gym class to shower. When I asked my nephew if he wore thongs to keep from getting athlete's foot in the locker room at his high school, he looked at me funny. I get that a lot from him.
Not sure why Dr. Perry cares about flip flops, but... a - they are insanely comfortable b - there is a HUGE difference between the 3.99 "shower shoe" referenced in one of the above comments and a pair of Reefs or other similar "high end" flip flop. c - women can wear open toed sandals/heels to the office, why can't men wear a pair of flip flops?
Sadly, I work in an environment that it would be unsafe to wear them, but I often wear them driving to and from work.
I like flip-flops. When it is hot, why not?
ReplyDeleteSheesh, in Thailand people used to walk around barefoot and topless, men or women.
That is the right attire for hot and sticky weather.
"That is the right attire for hot and sticky weather."
ReplyDeleteIt's not hot and sticky at the office.
"Thailand people used to walk around barefoot and topless, men or women"...
ReplyDeleteThailand, the land of B.O. and toe fungus...

ReplyDeleteEverything has a time and a place.

ReplyDeleteIn fairness, when flip flops were just for the beach, they weren't quite as snazzy as today's thongs.
ReplyDeleteAlthough to offices and fine restaurants? No.
And they are bad for your feet...
